Ferghana
The Ferghana-Syrdarya corridor which is now in modern day Uzbekistan was crucial in the silk trade of the Silk Road. Legend has it that when a Chinese princess was married to the Samanid King, she smuggled silk worm cocoons in her hair, and this is how the region was able to produce silk that was then introduced to the west.
